Trip 009 - Pipeline Track - Rustlers Ridge - Swampy Lagoons - Leith Saddle Walkway

The club has used the area on the eastern flank of Swampy Hill / Summit for both day trips and for access to the Silver Peaks area since the 1920’s.

This trip is a current day popular circuit from Leith Saddle, along the Pipeline Track, and then up Rustlers Ridge, crossing Burns Track on the way.

Once on Swampy Summit, a detour will be made from the formed road to the tarns, which have been variously referred to as ‘Swampy Lake’, ‘The Lagoons’, and ‘Swampy Tarns’. The last time the club promoted a trip as including the Lagoons was in the 1980’s.

Rustlers is the ridge between Fergusons and Burns Creeks, and didn’t feature as a name on OTC / OTMC trip programmes until the 1980’s.

Returning via the Leith Saddle Walkway completes a loop circuit.
