Another very Otago Tramping Club trip. The first OTC trip around this circuit was on October 6, 1923 and was led by Mr. R. Hamel (Antony Hamel’s grandfather).
This trip is predominately a road-walk today, but detours are possible via the cemetery and Tomahawk Beach. The roads today will be much busier than the 1923 versions, but the views will still be impressive.
The Andersons Bay tram terminus, at the junction of Silverton St, Tomahawk Rd & Highcliff Rd was a common starting or finishing points for many trips. Longer trips that had travelled to the likes of Broad Bay or Portobello by boat finished at the tram terminus after walking the high road.
As this trip is walking alongside the roads, please bring a hi-vis jacket.
