Trip 022 - Kaikorai to Whare Flat

Meeting at the Kaikorai cable-car terminus (now Cableways), this trip will follow the roads and mountain-bike tracks through the Flagstaff forest. The area would have looked different in the early days, but some of the early track names have been repeated for the forestry roads, such as McIntyre’s and Laing’s.
Bell Hill is located nearer Rollinsons Rd, but now it is untracked - in the past OTC parties climbed the hill on the return to Dunedin, sometimes using candlelight.
The first OTC trip to meet at Kaikorai was on September 16, 1923, which was the trip with the infamous meeting with Ben Rudd (the little beearded man with the shotgun).
