Trip 030 - Cloud Forest Of Leith - Escarpment Track - Three Peaks Track

There had long been a vision for a series of tracks along Dunedin’s northern skyline from Flagstaff to the eastern side of Mt Cargill / Kapukataumahaka. This was achieved in the 2000’s when the OTMC constructed the two missing links from Sullivans Dam to Mt Cargill. The first is the Cloud Forests of Leith and connects Sullivans Dam with the original bridle track to Pigeon Flat. The other is the Escarpment Track which continues from the Cloud Forest track to Cowan Road and onwards Mt Cargill via the A.H. Reed track.

This trip is a moderate partial loop track that combines the Cloud Forest and Escarpments tracks with the upper portion of the Three Peaks track (used for the annual running race). A short section of road walking is required between Mt Cargill and the Three Peaks track, but a full range of tramping experiences are guaranteed.
