Trip 045 - Tomahawk - Peg41 Track

In the early 1990’s there was a campaign to utilise the numerous ‘paper road’s on the Otago Peninsula as walking tracks. In many cases these routes allow round trips to be undertaken away from the vehicle roads.

The OTMC was involved in a council led working group, and assisted with signage and marking of some of the tracks.

This trip is a Saturday afternoon trip from the Tomahawk Lagoon to the Soldiers Monument via the 41 Peg Track. The monument was opened in 1923, the same year as the Otago Tramping Club, as was visited by the club in the first year of trips.
