Trip 054 - Nardoo Scientific Reserve (Nardoo 13)

This will be the 13th trip to Nardoo. The first trips were led by the ever enthusiastic Ross Cocker after the club had received a management plan for the area in 1985. Defeated by bad weather and lack of attendance these trips became legendary for failure.

Later trips lead by the dependable Antony Hamel featured great weather and large attendances. Rather than a crude frontal assault he tackled the area from the north after Nardoo became part of the larger Te Papanui Conservation Area 2003.

This trip will be the short frontal assault version. On the summit there will be a minute silence for past failed trips. There will be readings from the chapter on Nardoo in Alan Mark’s autobiography. A flag will be raised. The King will be toasted.
