LEADER: Tony Timperley (03 473 7257)
TRIP GRADE: Moderate (5-6 Hours)
MEET: Clubrooms, 9am
The beach we know today as Boulder Beach was originally known as Beattie’s Beach by our early club members. The first OTC trip to mention Beattie’s Beach was in 1925, when a trip was run to the beach and the nearby Fairy Grotto at Seal Point.
Beattie’s Beach remained in use until 1940, with the club referring to the beach as Boulder Beach from 1952. The first trip to visit Beattie’s / Boulder Beach from Macandrew Bay was in September 1925. That trip would have made use of local roads and farmland – the trip for 100 Trips is utilising some of the tracks established in the 1990s using paper (legal) roads.
This trip is a ‘round trip' and offers panoramic views over the Pacific Ocean.
