Trip 074 - Lake Whare...plus Possum Busters & Lower Swine Spur
DATE:
July 29, 2023 (Saturday)
LEADER: Tony Timperley (03 473 7257)
TRIP GRADE: E (3-4 Hours)
MEET:
Woodhaugh, 9am
While the club has visited Lake Whare over 45 times, we have only included the small ‘lake’ as part of a trip description four times in the past 50 years. Lake Whare is a small mill pond that is more impressive in name than reality…with care though it is possible to complete a circumnavigation of the lake which gives a better view of it.
Lake Whare is only a few minutes’ walk from Rollinsons Road, so an easy (but steep in places) circuit is planned for this trip, incorporating parts of the Smithy’s & Possum Busters tracks as well as Swine Spur & Lake Whare.
The tracks in this area have been developed and signposted over the past 20 years or so, and provide a relatively sheltered tramping area for days when the weather is not so good.
