087 - Nicols Creek - Peppertree Track - Ross Bush Track (Old Pineapple)

This trip is planned as a standalone tramping trip, but also provides an opportunity for people unable to participate in the Pineapple Point opening on September 1 to visit the site.

Nicols Creek has been visited many by the club times over the years. The lower section features two impressive sections, one being a sheer wall canyon that the creek runs through, the other being Nicols Falls and glowworms. There are multiple falls above the lower Nicols Falls, and several trips have visited these as well.

The true left side of Nicols Creek is used by Mountain Bike Otago, with a mountain bike track that includes many switchbacks reaching towards the Swampy Ridge Track.

There are several less-defined tracks in the area, such as the Peppertree Track, and this trip will make use of these to connect the upper Nicols Creek area to the current day Pineapple Track and Pineapple Point.

This trip will be departing Woodhaugh at 10am to enable us to have lunch at Pineapple Point.
