TRIP GRADE: E (3 hours)
MEET:

This trip is based on a Saturday afternoon trip almost 100 years ago (Sept 22, 1923). The 1923 trip comprised of two options, one meeting at the ‘Tram Shed’ in Mornington, the second took the afternoon train to Burnside Station. The trip was to Southern Reservoir and Mount Grand – the party of ‘about 35 members + 11 from the Burnside train’ went to Southern Reservoir first, then through paddocks to Mt Grand. Return to Kaikorai Valley was via Frasers Gully.
Since then, Frasers Gully has not specifically featured a lot in our programmes – after WW2 the club listed it once in the 1940s, 1950s & 1960s, then not again until 2004.
As the area has changed a lot from the rural landscape of 100 years ago, this trip will head to the Frasers Gully part of the original trip, so will be an easy afternoon walk.
